Passion In Action
by Charlon Bobo Expressing your passion – defined as “boundless enthusiasm” – is quite appropriate in business. However, it is a precious commodity that I don’t find in many corporate environments.
But, because you love what you do as a Lifestyle CEO, being passionate is
effortless because an overflowing well of contentment comes from deep inside
you as you do what you love to do. And since by its very nature, passion
should be shared, I want to encourage you to spread your enthusiasm and share
your passion via your everyday experience, even in your office!
Boundless enthusiasm can take many forms in your office, but here are a few examples to get you thinking. If you
have ever been on the receiving side of any of these expressions, you know what a difference they make individually and collectively in the lives of your customers, clients, employees, and family:
1. A sincere and joyful telephone manner
2. A wide smile and a sincere, “How are you?” followed by attentive listening for the spaces between the words to really hear and feel
3. Customer service that always exceeds expectations
4. Attentive and thoughtful responses
5. Service-focused action, especially when dealing with difficult situations or people
6. Responsive, not reactive, words and deeds
7. Performing all tasks with a grateful heart – this doesn’t mean you necessarily love or even like the task in front of you, but you choose the emotion you bring to seeing it to completion, so
why not choose to be grateful!??
This list doesn’t even begin to cover the many ways you can express your
passion to others. As a Lifestyle CEO – a person who owns and manages your
business for more than financial reasons – it is vital that your business and personal expressions are true reflections of the love you feel for your endeavors. Here’s an easy way to bring this exercise to your everyday experience:
1. Choose one aspect of passion TODAY that can express in your distinctive style.
2. Formulate an action item from that word or phrase.
3. Write the action item on a note card or white board and keep it near you as a reminder throughout the day.
4. Implement the action item as often as possible.
5. Begin again by choosing a different aspect of passion.
I challenge you to fully examine and explore the importance of sharing your passion and excitement for
your business. By sharing your passion, you will discover the power to transform not only you, but also everyone with whom you come in contact!
