The Lifestyle CEO® Book Helps Moms Build Their Own Corporate Ladders
WASHINGTON, DC (May 24, 2006) – Longer work hours, dwindling family time, horrendous commutes, increased downsizing – many moms are tired of molding their lives around the demands of an inflexible traditional work place. Are you looking for a way out, but don’t know where to go? “It’s time to put the live back into livelihood!” proclaims Donna Maria Coles Johnson, one-time attorney for a Fortune 500 company. Five years ago, she traded in someone else’s corporate ladder for the opportunity to build her own. Today she’s the CEO of her business and her lifestyle and her new book reveals how she did it, and tells other moms how they can too!!
The Lifestyle CEO Book: How to Break all the Rules, Build Your Own Corporate Ladder and Create the Life You Love (Lifestyle CEO Media Corp, May 2006; $29.95; Soft cover; spiral bound), is the first book to addresses the entrepreneurial process from the distinct perspective of a mom. Like a growing number of American moms, Johnson decided that a typical 9 to 5 job would not allow her to enjoy a personally satisfying lifestyle, yet she wanted to contribute to her family’s financial bottom line. Even with her background as an attorney, starting a business was a huge leap of faith for Johnson. Still, she was disheartened to discover that other mothers were struggling even more because resources addressing entrepreneurship for moms focus almost exclusively on network marketing and direct sales, and excluding the option of building a brand from the ground up.
The Lifestyle CEO Book uses Johnson’s View It, Then Do It philosophy to guide mothers step-by-step through the process of launching, owing and managing their own business. It covers everything from discovering a passion and identifying a commercial application for it (“What To Do When You Don’t Know What To Do”), to using “big business” tactics to create and protect brands (“Branding: It’s Not Just For Cows: How To Create and Protect Your Trademarks”). Johnson counsels the use of her Passion Principles to prepare a Business Action Model (BAM!), a revolutionary alternative to the outmoded traditional business plan. The book also offers tips for successfully incorporating children and family members to help grow a business into a tool that can be used to create intergenerational family wealth (“Family, Inc.”) The Lifestyle CEO Book combines proven business strategies with Johnson’s refreshing, down-to-earth style, and is supplemented with inspirational profiles of Lifestyle CEOs from all walks of life. The result is essential reading for moms (and everyone else!) who want to successfully manage home and business – without compromising either.
