"Before You Quit Your Job" -- Freedom or Financial Security?

Rich Dad's Before You Quit Your Job: 10 Real-Life Lessons Every Entrepreneur Should Know About Building a Multimillion-Dollar Business by Robert T. Kiyosaki.

Welcome to the home of the Lifestyle CEO Book Club!

The Lifestyle CEO Book Club is designed to help you make the most of the books that I have found to be the most helpufl in building my own business. Together we will mine deep into their pages to discover the nuggets of gold that will help each of us build our own corporate ladders. This blog will be a relevant, easy to use forum for discussion of the important topics covered in the most useful books I can find, and we will encourage each other in the application of these principles so we can achieve our goals. No matter where you are in your family or business launch, here you will be surrounded by other women who are stoking the home fires and generating income at the same time, from the same place -- HOME. It's a tough juggling act sometimes, and we may not all be doing it for the same reasons. Nevertheless, there is power in our numbers and we can support, inspire and encourage one another to new heights. I'll also share my own helpful tips and advice and invite you to share yours.

Of course while we're at it, we won't forget The Lifestyle CEO Book, but we'll save that one for another day. I'd like to start first with Before You Quit Your Job by Richard Kiyosaki. If you don't know Richard Kiyosaki, you don't have to. Just go to the bookstore or library and ask for a "Rich Dad" book. I love Kiyosaki's writing because it is easy to understand. Not a syllable is wasted. Any time spent talking about himself is designed to make a point that we can apply to our own lives.

In the Introduction to the book, Kiyosaki explains that a fundamental desire of any entrepreneur is freedom. Freedom over all else, including financial security. He said that entrepreneurs place a higher value on freedom than they do on money, and this frees them from the tyranny of money. They are liberated to do whatever they desire to do because they are driven not by dollar bills but by the freedom to live their lives in the manner that suits them best. He says, "The entrepreneur doesn't want to climb the corporate ladder; he or she wants to own the corporate ladder."

I guess you know I love that concept so much that it's a part of the title of my own book!!

What's most important to you -- freedom or financial security?
